Introducing Personalized Science Communication Coaching
Hello, I am Sarah Wettstadt, and I used to be a microbiology researcher. After completing my postdoc, I swapped the lab coat for the laptop to share science with anyone interested in it. I am writing, blogging and strategising science communication for various audiences and clients and my curiosity knows no limits.
After several years in the science communication field, I have now made it my goal to help scientists like you become exceptional communicators. I wish for you to share your science with the world so others can learn from you and your knowledge.
Why science communication coaching
I know that getting started in science communication can be confusing. You want to share your scientific knowledge with the world, but getting started seems difficult and none of your ideas may make sense on second thought.
Or you’re already experienced in science communication and want to make a career of it. I know from experience that leaving the ivory tower can be overwhelming and it feels like you’re lacking support.
In both cases, I’m happy to listen to your ideas without judgement and give you advice on how to move forward. Together, we will develop a sustainable strategy to realise your ideas so you can share your science with your audience. I will be your sounding board and accountability partner, helping you to keep an optimistic attitude and an open mind—two crucial attitudes to achieve your goals.
What science communication coaching with me will look like:
You can choose between three coaching packages depending on what makes the most sense to you. Choose the 1-session package if you have several burning questions that you want to get answered in 60 minutes. During that time, you can pick my brain on everything SciComm-related and I’ll give you personal advice and tips to reach your goals faster.
Choose the 3-session or 5-session packages for a structured approach to build your SciComm journey. During our first session, we’ll discuss your situation, explore the different areas that you want to work on and develop a strategy for you to work through in the coming weeks.
Within the next sessions, we’ll develop your next steps and refine your strategy with the goal of realising your SciComm dream. Throughout, you can always ask me anything.
During our one-on-one coaching sessions, you have the opportunity to tap into my experience in the science communication field. I’m happy to brainstorm ideas for your new SciComm project, help you find the right words to bring your science across or plan out your next career steps. Either way, we’ll make sure your science is heard and you’ll make an impact with your research.
