Science Writing Coaching: Transform Your Research into a Clear and Engaging Story

Get your first science blog post or popular science article published with clarity, confidence and impact. This personalised 1:1 programme is designed for scientists taking their first steps into science writing.

You bring your research idea or topic. Together we will shape and refine it into a polished, publish‑ready article that effectively communicates your science to your chosen audience.

This Science Writing Coaching Programme is for researchers and scientists who

  • Are new to science writing or blogging
  • Want to share their scientific work beyond academic journals and the scientific community
  • Are looking to add a popular science article to their SciComm portfolio
  • Want professional and friendly guidance on writing structure, storytelling and active language
  • Are keen to learn how to explain complex scientific topics in a written piece

No previous writing experience needed. We’ll go step by step.

What you’ll create

In about 8 weeks, you will not only improve your science writing skills. By the end of the programme, you will also have a popular science article:

  • Of up to 1,000 words
  • For your chosen platform and target audience
  • That explains a scientific topic or model of your choice (a great start is your current research project)
  • Which is based on storytelling, evokes emotion and uses active and visual language
  • That conveys a clear scientific message and takeaway to your reader
  • That follows a solid structure and a logical flow
  • No AI, no fluff — all editing and coaching are done by me

Who you’ll work with

I’m Sarah, a microbiologist-turned science writer, blogger and communication coach. I help scientists turn complex ideas into clear, reader‑friendly articles that make an impact.

I’ve been working as a writer and editor for over five years and have published several articles on various platforms for both scientific and non‑scientific audiences. As a former lab‑based researcher, I know that academic writing is very different from writing for non‑scientists.

So, I’m here to translate your scientific thoughts into clear and engaging stories that help your audience understand your science and make better decisions based on it.

What others say about the Science Writing Coaching Programme

Dear Sarah, You made the best of our blog — I appreciate it very much. I also skimmed the 3 spotlights you recently wrote. They are just perfect, easy to understand and ideal for the reader who is not exactly an expert in the field. With the article, you make the reader want to learn more about the subject. You have an admirable gift for questioning the message of a work, bringing it to the point and communicating it vividly to the readership.

Dear Sarah, Thank you so much! I am so excited for this, and cannot tell you how appreciative I am for your help in shaping this blog post to make it nicer to read.
